Event Planning and Design: Susan Jaffe Pieces of Dreams
Planning & Decor: Linda Kessler Flowers: Petal Productions Dress: Alfred Angelo DJ: MB Entertainment Location: Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne For their big day, Kim and John chose the exclusive Ritz Carlton location on Key Biscayne. They decided to meet before the ceremony and did so in the illustrious courtyard lined with palm trees and elegant fountains overlooking the beach. They decided on a night ceremony cooled by breezes traveling in from the sea, the alter and decor aflame with colour. For the reception the DJ inspired the crowd with contemporary stylings reflective of the “Justin Timberlake” routine concocted by the bride and groom. And in case you were wondering…yes, they brought sexy back. Linda Kessler constructed an elegant and prismatic ambiance accented with pink and embellished with careful combinations of various flowers.
April in Florida presents the most perfect nuptial conditions. With the summer foreshadowed only by a tangerine hue seeping through fifty foot palm trees and the scene accented by a light spring breeze, Cynthia and Brent’s destination wedding bore all the hallmarks of a regal affair set in a tropical paradise. The Bonnet House of course was the perfect setting with its Bohemian history and beautifully ornamented grounds, but the heart of the location lies in the eccentric details provided for by the late Evelyn Bartlett who furnished the pond with Black and White swans and the trees with miniature monkeys who were honorary guests of the entire affair.
Justine was the epitome of a classic bride matching the light hearted spirit and tranquility of the villas that flanked the ocean. Even lighting in the courtyard of her aunt’s vintage Palm Beach villa provided the perfect setting for portraits, the immaculately white pillars and large shaded porch framing Justine and the well-pressed youngsters in a traditional and timeless style. As is customary with churches in Palm Beach, photographers were not allowed to take pictures from the pews and I was limited to the balcony to capture images of the ceremony, which unfortunately made taking my preferred intimate close-ups of the vows impossible. Beautiful wide angle captures were obtained nevertheless and the ornate fixtures provided a rich environment to complement the solemnity of the service. Light in the room came from several directions. With the retractable ceiling opening and closing at seemingly random times both the color and intensity of the surroundings were constantly changing and combining in unique ways making the exposure both interesting and unique. Later in the night a surprise appearance on stage by Justine and Brenden was enjoyed by all at the conclusion of the evening and some most impressive dancefloor skills were exhibited by the groom and family members.
We knew Greek weddings were rich in ritual and tradition – but didn’t understand the illustrious extent this could reach before meeting the soon to be Christakis couple. With family coming from Crete and Rhodes the ballroom, church and even bridal suite were filled to capacity with love, music and people alike.
Danielle and Josh were adopted by New York City after college, but our bride du Jour decided her home in sunny Florida was the only place to host “The big day”. Hi All! I know I’ve been a bit slack with the posts. I am in the process of redesigning my website so I’m going to have to duplicate all this anyway. Of course it is going slower than expected so I figured I should post. Here are some pictures from my wedding on the Memorial Day Weekend at the famous Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada Florida. The wedding was for a very sweet and affectionate couple named Karen Pappas and Tom Mahoney. I was there for three days, shot around 5000 images and enjoyed every minute of it! To top all this off, the wedding was filmed by WE TV’s Platinum Weddings. I’ll post when it is going to broadcast.
